New Year's Eve - Prague '07

Jeanne and I arrived back in Prague on Dec. 30th. Was good to be back and be part of the New Year's Eve celebrations. Of course, that included lots of good food that we were all part in trying to help. That same evening, we went downtown to Old Town Square to see the Christmas lights. Because of the amount of people coming in for New Year's Eve, we didn't want to be downtown with all the people, firecrackers and fireworks - which already started on the 30th.
There were many stalls set up to sell things but we didn't realize that they all closed at 5:00 pm. We just got in to see things for about half hour - but then it gave us an opportunity to go back again on New Year's Day.

Appetizers were a good way to end and begin the new year.

The castle in the background.

New Year's Eve, we all went to Petrine Hill where we had a fantastic view of the city - the castle, Charles' Bridge, Opera House, etc. Fireworks started already in the early evening. We got there about 11:00 pm and everywhere you looked, fireworks were going off. I have never seen such a display of fireworks.

Of course, you can't bring in the new year without their hot mulled wine. Al had made a thermos full of it for us - of course, also to help keep the cold out of our bodies.

Roasting a ham. This was all over the city and people would come by and they would just cut off a huge slice.
"HAPPY NEW YEAR"

Jeanne and I went back into Prague on Jan 1. Had a wonderful time sampling all the different types of ethnic foods that they serve at this Christmas season.

Went for a hike with the grandkids.
One of Al and Connie's friends over for dinner.

Mark's new bike that he got with some of his greatgrandmother's Christmas money.

There is no shortage of places to walk to around here.

Mark finally decided that he wanted this jacket with some of his Christmas money. Wow, did he ever look sharp!!
Went out on Jan. 4th to TGI Friday's. Great restaurant and we all really enjoyed it there!
Yes, they kept us busy! Only wish we had as much energy as they have.

After a long hike, it was good to stop off at Giraffe's for hot chocolate and cappachino's for us. Best caps we have found anywhere and all for only $2 Can.
