Day trip to Bergun - Switzerland - Dec 27, 2007

In the village of Bergun, Switzerland.
No picnic tables or "club house" so we had to eat in the van. Worked OK.
Jacob and Cameron ready to go sledding. They go up on a train and then it is a 5-6 km run down this road and they reach speeds up to 59 km per hour.
While the group went on an evening run, Cyndy, Jeanne and I went to hear a youth choir in the local church.

Village scenes.
Ice counter at an outdoor pub.
Little lanterns were throughout the village.

Went on a train ride to Preda which is the top of the mountain where the sledding begins from.
While others went sledding, some of us went to the local baths in Char.

Interesting frost crystals.

Train that went to the top of the run.

I can only wish that this was my hat. Belonged to Len Reed, Kenny's dad.

Tiera and Kenny with his sister Jeannie just as they are ready to head down the hill.

On the top of the hill is the village of Latch where the original German "Heidi" was filmed.

Train ride up to Preda.

View while we were sipping our cap.

Christmas in Germany - 2007

Christmas dinner at the Loewen's in Kandern.
Even the Christmas tree is beginning to look tired!
"Did anyone forget about me?"

At the end of each busy day, the dorm recreation room did become quiet and peaceful - missing the noise of busy children and adults.
Turkey dinner - what a fantastic meal!

The Falk children in one of the few quiet moments!
What better way to wrap a Christmas money gift than in a stocking.

Crepes for brunch on Christmas morning - a long standing tradition.

Christmas Eve raclette and then topped off with a chocolate fondue after the Candlelight Service at the church.

It does take a long time to make crepes from 40 eggs.

Christmas Eve dinner was the traditional raclette meal. Lots of work for the ladies in preparation but worth every bit of it - especially for the guys. Couldn't be too much wine!!! No, Jacob is only 17 so he's not even allowed.
The Loewen's rec room at the dorm was the ideal place for everyone to have something to do.

On Dec. 23rd evening, we were all invited to Len and Mary Reed (Tiera's future in-laws) for an evening of food and getting to know one another.

Hope no one is getting dizzy by jumping back and forth with these pictures. Back to the raclette dinner.

On Dec. 23rd, we all went to Basel for the afternoon. Was very cold but we had a good time.

Back to the Reed's evening.

Games over the holidays.

Is this "pre-ageing in the process?
