Shopping inside this 7 story building was an experience. Christmas lights at the LaFayette Galeries. These lights changed patterns and colors. Attracted a lot of onlookers. The food and wine in Paris was just outstanding. We were never disappointed in the food but were in the fact that we got full too quickly. On Friday night, we went to the cathedral called Eglise de La Madeleine and heard Les Quatre Saisons de Vivaldi by Orchestre 'Les Violins de France. Was a wonderful concert. One side of the Louvre Museum.
Accross from The Louvre, is the La Sainte Chapelle church, chapel and tower. We went there on Saturday night and heard a sacred concert by some school children. The Galeries of Lafayette. Many stories and various buildings house the different items. One floor featured the designs of many famous designers. Each piece of clothing was locked in place and one had to make appointments to try on these clothes. Dresses were $5000 Euros and more. Needless to say, Jeanne did not buy too many of those.
River boat cruise with the Notre-Dame Cathedral in the background. I had never imagined that the structure was so massive. You can go onto Facebook if you want to see many more pictures. We took the river boat up to the Eiffel Tower. Built for the world's fair in 1889. It is 1050 feet high.
Notre-Dame Cathedral in the background. The River Seine has many beautiful bridges crossing it. Here the weather was cold, but we still liked to walk along the waterway because of the many things to see. The Cathedral of Notre-Dame was finished construction in 1345. This was the place where Napoleon I was crowned. Mark, Cyndy, Jeanne and I went to Paris on November 14-18. We arrived in Paris in the midst of a transportation strike but we had arranged private transportation to get us to our hotel called Hotel Cluny. This hotel was right downtown and within walking distance of most of the things we wanted to see.
